Beijing Winter XIII Paralympics 2022 – a few weeks after 20th February’s closing of the Beijing Winter Olympics, the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics will kick off this Friday.
The Winter Paralympics is a smaller affair compared with thee Paralympics – 78 gold medals are up for grabs across six sports between 5th March Saturday and 13th March Sunday.
There is a total of 736 athletes competing across six sports at the 2022 Winter Paralympics – 39 events for men, 35 for women and four mixed events.
The events are split in two categories: snow sports and ice sports. Snow sports include alpine skiing, cross-country skiing, biathlon and snowboarding, while ice sports include para ice hockey and wheelchair curling.
Russian and Belarusian athletes will not be allowed to compete in the 2022 Winter Paralympics. Earlier in the week, the International Paralympics Committee (IPC) granted these athletes a place in the competition, but the catch was that the athletes must label themselves as neutral.
