After wasting several cutting edge chances, Foden added the 3rd and restored Man C’s 2 goals advantage, only for Vinicius Jr to net a superb goal back after he broke clear from the halfway line and raced to goal and finished with great aplomp.
Then, Bernardo Silva rifled into the near post top-corner as the referee had the whistle to mouth but had played the advantage, before Benzema netted his brace from an outrageous panenka penalty which he dinked over Ederson from the spot.
Little separates the 2 attacking sides, and the return second leg in Madrid will see Real looking to win to make the finals for a chance for its 14th European crown. Real appearing in a Champions League semi-final for a record 15th time, while City were in their second successive Champions League semi-final
Manchester City have never been beaten by Real Madrid at home.
