Cricket ODI – South Africa wins India by 31 runs – In the three-match series one Day International held in Paarl, Western Cape province in SA, South Africa beat India by 31 runs to take 1-0 lead.
It was a phenomenal bowling performance for South Africa – Tabraiz Shamsi, Lungi Ngidi & Andile Phehlukwayo picked up two wickets each, while Keshav Maharaj & Aiden Markram got one each for the African home side.
Skipper Temba Bavuma & Rassie van der Dussen put on 204 runs in 183 balls, conquering conditions & bowlers. In particular, van der Dussen’s knock took the first innings and turned the match away from India.
“There’s so much to learn. We started off really well, we couldn’t get wickets in the middle. The middle-order couldn’t get going. We were on par for the first 20-25 overs of the game. I thought we would chase it down easily but SA bowled really well and got crucial wickets. I didn’t bat after the 20th over, I don’t know if it changed drastically. Virat and Shikhar told that it was a good wicket to bat on, you just had to spend some time in the middle, unfortunately we couldn’t get the partnership going.”
