Typhoon Alert for Travellers to Hong Kong, Macau – Flights will be disrupted as the Hong Kong Observatory issued the Strong Wind Signal No. 3 at 12.40pm on 24 August 2022. The forecast expects severe tropical storm Ma-on to be closest to Hong Kong in the morning of 25 August 2022.
The Observatory will consider issuing the Categort No. 8 Gale or Storm Signal between 6pm and 9pm on 24 August 2022. The transportation companies are doing everything they can to continue operations without endangering their staff. Even a short delay in freight movement could set back the companies’ transportation schedules considerably.
The morning session for trading of shares in Hong Kong was canceled due to the alert of extreme conditions. Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Ltd. said earlier that if the signal or any announcement of extreme conditions is canceled before noon, HKEx’s securities and derivatives markets will resume trading in the afternoon.
Hong Kong International Airport remains operational and most flights remain on schedule at the moment, Seko Logistics said in an advisory to customers. Airlines are not building containers this evening, but there is no large impact currently.
