The World # 49 had been looking to pick up some valuable ranking points in the Swiss Indoors Basel to break back into the top 32 and be seeded for the Australian Open in January. However, Murray was far from his best level abd lost his last-16 match to Agut ranked # 22 in the world.
After being broken in the first game, Murray went 40-0 up and had the chance to level the second set at 2-2, but he squandered those three break point opportunities as Bautista Agut held well.
3 aces followed for the 3 time Grand Slam winner in the next game, but he could not keep the momentum going as Bautista Agut won the final three games again to advance.
