Bhangarh Fort, India

The Bhangarh Fort is a 17th-century fort built in the Rajasthan state of India. According to one popular folk tale, a wizard adept in black magic named N.K. Sinhai fell in love with Ratnavati, a beautiful Bhangarh princess with many suitors. One day, the wizard followed her to the marketplace and offered her a love potion, however she refused it, throwing it onto a large boulder that consequently rolled onto the wizard and crushed him to death. Before dying, the wizard cursed that the fort would be destroyed and become uninhabitable in the time to come.

True to the wizard’s curse, the fort was invaded by the Mughals, who killed all the inhabitants including the princess. Due to its creepy reputation, tourists are forbidden to enter the fort after sunset as it is believed that no one will be able to return if they enter the place at night.

The Island of Dolls, Mexico

Hidden in the beautiful canals near Mexico City is the beyond-creepy Island of the Dolls : old dolls, many having missing limbs or empty eye sockets, hanging from trees and buildings. Legend has it that after a little girl drowned near the island some years ago, its caretaker hung up her doll in remembrance, and the collection was added over the years. Locals say the dolls are possessed by the girl’s spirit, and some have even heard them whispering to each other.

The Catacombs, Paris

The Catacombs of Paris are underground ossuaries that contains the remains of more than 6 million people. These ossuaries stretch over countless tunnels and caverns and covers an area of more than 280 km. Once used by the French Renaissance during World War II, they are mostly visited by tourists searching for the macabre found at the Place Denfert Rochereau.

Hoia Baciu Forest, Romania

Popularly called the Bermuda Triangle of Romania, this forest ranks among the most haunted destinations on the planet. It has a penchant for paranormal activities and strange events, common stories include UFO sightings, ghosts and faces in photographs that aren’t visible to the naked eye.
