UK travellers – protests cause huge jams on M25 and M4 – Just Stop Oil supporters caused Mayhem for travellers coming from to going to Heathrow airport. M25 between St Albans and London Colney was blocked causing huge delays.
The protest on the motorway earlier on Monday morning caused M25 clockwise traffic to be completely blocked. Traffic was left queuing for miles as the road was blocked between J21a for the A405 in St Albans and J22 for the A1081m London Colney. Motorists were advised by officials to avoid the area as there was congestion back to previous junctions.
Just Stop Oil supporters will continue the campaign of civil resistance on the M25 in the coming days. 5 demonstrators have been taken down from M25 gantries at various locations across Surrey and arrested. As a result of the disruption, many roads in south west Hertfordshire have been brought to a halt.
Chief Superintendent Simon Anslow said: “We are not anti-protest – this is rightly enshrined in law – but we will not tolerate dangerous acts which put lives at risk and we will always respond and take decisive action. I know those of you who have been affected this morning will be frustrated by the disruption and I want to thank you for your patience and understanding.”
