As it is, Nole will be unable to compete in the U.S. Open because of the government’s COVID-19 vaccine requirements for foreign travelers. This is the same ruling that kept Djoker out of the Citi Open, National Bank Open and the upcoming Western & Southern Open.
Djokovic has also shortened the gap that separates him from Rafael Nadal in the all-time Grand Slam standings. In a press conference during the Championships, Goran Ivanisevic’s protege ruled out the possibility of playing minor tournaments to hunt for points.
