Full Travel reopening may come soon – antivirals like Pfizer’s Covid-19 Paxlovid first hit the shelves last December, and may be the best option to keep those at high risk of hospitalization out of the hospital, for Full Travel reopening around the world to resume.
In America, nearly a million people a month (about 1 in 4 officially reported Covid-19 cases) are now using Paxlovid, according to the latest US government data. The increase in use comes as pharmacists are now allowed to offer Paxlovid in the US.
Paxlovid has becoming such a popular COVID-19 treatment, that President Biden even used it to try and get over the coronavirus.

The oral antiviral is supposed to stop the virus from becoming too severe, and studies show it achieves those results almost 90% of the time. However, it is now reported in 10% of patients that Paxlovid may make the patient’s symptoms subside for a few days and they even test COVID-19 negative, but then the symptoms and virus can return, making patients experience COVID even longer.
In December 2021, the US FDA issued an emergency use authorization for Paxlovid, which became the first oral antiviral treatment for COVID-19. It is meant to be taken within the first five days of symptoms for those at high risk of severe illness from the virus.
